On 19 September, numerous experts and partners attended a ‘sizzling’ event organised by LogBATT GmbH, Febelauto and RecuPbat at the new lithium-ion battery storage facility near the port of Antwerp. The event brought together leading players in the battery and automotive industry, including recycling experts, car importers, energy suppliers and policy makers. The focus was on the need for sustainable solutions for the lifecycle of batteries in electrified vehicles, paving the way for a circular economy in the automotive industry through recycling and reuse.
A great programme full of knowledge & innovation
The event kicked off with a welcome from Catherine Lenaerts of Febelauto and Kenny Rits of Recupbat, and then offered exciting insights into the world of battery recycling: participants visited the new high-security storage facility for lithium-ion batteries, which is monitored 24/7 to ensure the safe storage of critical batteries. Niels Vandeput of Watt4Ever then explained the rigorous diagnostic processes that allow battery modules to be classified for reuse or recycling. A demonstration on deep discharging of modules, led by Ruud Barnas of RecuPbat, showed how modern technology can be used to achieve safe discharges down to 0 volts.
Maximum safety in your yard – with the proven SafetyBATTbox XL Storage from LogBATT’s popular storage family for hazardous goods storage containers
LogBATT GmbH made a significant contribution to this event: Christian Wickel, Key Account Manager at LogBATT GmbH, explained the high safety requirements for the transport of VHE batteries. As these batteries are classified as hazardous goods, special packaging solutions are essential. LogBATT GmbH works together with Febelauto to transport batteries safely and efficiently in specially developed “safety boxes” to specialised recycling partners. LogBATT GmbH also presented one of the most popular storage solutions for its customers, the SafetyBATTbox XL Storage, which stands out for its high level of safety features and efficiency. These boxes comply with the most stringent legislation and contribute to the safety of the entire recycling chain.
Another highlight was the demonstration of the discharge process, in which battery modules are completely discharged to 0 volts in a controlled manner. The event concluded with the opening of the new battery warehouse by Antwerp alderman Koen Kennis, with the chairman of Febelauto emphasising the importance of cooperation for sustainable battery management.
LogBATT GmbH targets new markets and successfully launches its expansion efforts in Belgium
LogBATT GmbH is currently pursuing an ambitious expansion strategy in Europe and celebrated a successful start at the Febelauto event in Belgium. With a clear focus on expanding business in the Netherlands, France, Spain and Italy, the company plans to establish its comprehensive battery security and transport solutions in other European markets. The LogBATT Europe fleet and customised solutions will enable customers in these countries to safely handle and transport lithium-ion batteries, contributing to a sustainable circular economy.
