LOGBATT AS THE ONLY GERMAN MANUFACTURER WITH U.S. DOT APPROVAL

As of May 14, 2021, LogBATT GmbH has become the first German manufacturer of transport boxes for damaged to critical lithium-ion batteries to receive U.S. DOT approval in the United States. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) with the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) subdivision from Washington D.C. issued this special approval with the tracking number: 2020084088, accordance with §§ 173.185(b), 173.24 and §§ 107.105, 172.301(c)  (https://www.phmsa.dot.gov/approvals-and-permits/hazmat/special-permits-search)

For the official permission an extensive procedure of 8 months was gone through. The agency literally writes: “This Special Permit authorizes the manufacture, marking, sale, and use of packages that have a venting capability to reduce internal pressure that may result from the evolution of gas from the contents within the packages for the purpose of transporting damaged, defective, and recalled lithium cells or batteries…of these Special Regulations (HMR) or the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG), except as otherwise specifically stated herein.”

Thus, we are well prepared for the American market at the highest regulatory level as the first German supplier for our major customers in the automotive industry. “We are very proud and happy about this further milestone”, says Managing Director Philipp Helmle. (M.Knobloch)
